For the most part, I know the current graduating class of the Lighthouse Academy very well. Four years ago, most of the children were in Grade 3, which I was allowed to attend intensively. Of course, a lot of photo and video material was taken during this time. And so I came up with the idea to show the pictures and movies of that time to the now very grown up children. And as was to be expected, said activity amused the Grade 7 and their two former class teachers (Chantal & Kholofelo) immensely. A mixture of being embarrassed, pride and sorrow slosh through the classroom. Especially the recording of the dance choreography for the “Cha Cha Slide” amuses everybody very much.
Since there will be even more children in the Grade 7 next year, I equip that grade with five new tables and ten new chairs with the donations I have brought this year. And since the chairs are being advertised with a very attractive offer, I buy another ten, which will benefit the other classes, which are also getting bigger. Since I have now supplied all departments with donations and the purchases made with I am very happy to see that there is still some money left. After consultation with the responsibles I also get some textbooks, which are needed next year due to the growing number of students. So we can order eleven new “Sepedi” books for the coming year.
And once again I have to promise many people to thank the loved ones at home, who have made all this possible. Well: thanks, thanks, thanks!
